HSA/FSA Eligibility

Barbell Medicine × Flex

Use your HSA/FSA for eligible Barbell Medicine purchases

Coaching, consultations, training programs, and more may qualify when purchased for an eligible medical need. Find the right offering and see how payment works.

At a glance

A clearer path to using your benefits

  • Shop a BBM product or service offered as a one-time purchase.
  • Choose Flex at checkout and complete any eligibility review.
  • Use your HSA/FSA card or follow the reimbursement path.

Eligibility is individual. Flex availability does not guarantee approval by your plan.

Good to know

Having an HSA or FSA card alone does not make every purchase eligible. The purchase needs to meet applicable medical-expense and plan rules; some products require a Letter of Medical Necessity.

Understand eligibility

Does your purchase qualify?

HSA/FSA eligibility is tied to your individual medical circumstances and plan rules. For products with both general wellness and medical uses, a healthcare professional may need to document why the purchase is medically necessary for you.

Flex can guide you through its eligibility review and, when appropriate, the Letter of Medical Necessity process. Your HSA/FSA administrator may still request documentation or make its own reimbursement determination.

  • Choose a specific product or service offered through Flex.
  • Be prepared to describe the medical need it addresses.
  • Complete any requested review and keep your records.
  • Check your plan rules, especially before relying on reimbursement.

How to pay with HSA/FSA

These steps apply to supported one-time purchases on BarbellMedicine.com.

STEP 01

Choose your offering

Select an eligible one-time product. For coaching, follow the HSA/FSA one-time purchase option and choose your duration.

STEP 02

Select Flex

At checkout, choose “Flex | Pay with HSA/FSA” when it appears among the payment methods.

STEP 03

Check eligibility

Follow Flex’s prompts. A brief review and a Letter of Medical Necessity may be required for your purchase.

STEP 04

Pay or seek reimbursement

Use your HSA/FSA card if accepted, or pay with another card through Flex and submit the provided documents to your plan.

Coaching and subscriptions: Flex does not process BBM’s recurring WooCommerce subscription checkout. Coaching customers should use the separate one-time HSA/FSA purchase path. Plus, Premium, Program Library, and other recurring memberships are not offered through this Flex checkout.

Common questions

HSA/FSA questions, answered

Is every BBM product HSA/FSA eligible?

No. Flex is available for select one-time products and services. Your purchase must also qualify under the applicable medical-expense rules and your plan. The presence of a Flex payment option is not a guarantee of approval or reimbursement.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?

It is documentation from a healthcare professional explaining why a product or service is medically necessary for a particular person. Flex will explain its review process when a letter may be needed. Keep the letter and your itemized receipt in case your plan administrator asks for them.

Can I use my HSA/FSA for a BBM membership or monthly coaching subscription?

BBM’s Flex checkout currently supports eligible one-time purchases, not recurring subscription charges. For one-on-one coaching, choose the designated HSA/FSA one-time purchase for your selected duration. Plus, Premium, Program Library, and other recurring memberships are outside this purchase path.

What if I do not have my HSA/FSA card?

Where Flex offers the option, you can pay with a regular card through the Flex checkout and use the itemized receipt and any required documentation to request reimbursement from your HSA/FSA administrator. Reimbursement is subject to your plan’s rules and approval.

Why do I not see Flex at checkout?

Check that you selected a supported one-time product rather than a recurring subscription. Flex may also be unavailable when your cart includes an unsupported item. If you believe the option should appear, contact BBM Support with the product name and a description of what you see. Do not complete a different checkout expecting automatic HSA/FSA reimbursement.

Do HSA and FSA funds expire at year-end?

HSA balances generally carry forward from year to year. FSA plan years, spending deadlines, grace periods, and carryover provisions vary by employer plan. Check your benefits documents or ask your plan administrator for the dates that apply to you.

Who can help with an order or an eligibility question?

For BBM products, orders, or a missing checkout option, email support@barbellmedicine.com. For Flex’s eligibility review, documents, card decline, or reimbursement process, contact support@withflex.com. Your plan administrator can answer questions about your plan’s coverage and deadlines.

HSA/FSA payment availability does not establish medical necessity, guarantee that a Letter of Medical Necessity will be issued or accepted, or guarantee plan approval or reimbursement. Customers are responsible for confirming eligibility, keeping records, and following their plan’s requirements. See BBM’s Terms & Conditions.
