Is your conditioning a weak spot for you? Having trouble maintaining your gains whenever you add cardio to your lifting program? Look no further, these are the templates for you!

We all know that cardio is important for both health and performance, but programming it alongside a serious strength training program can be a daunting task. Let us take the guesswork out of your training with our General Strength and Conditioning template bundle.

Who’s it for?

The General Strength and Conditioning templates are designed for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  1. [General S&C I] – trainees who have some previous experience (>3 months) training with barbells. If you’re new to training that’s great! If someone is relatively new to training, we’d recommend first completing our Beginner Template or Prescription
  2. [General S&C II] – who have been training for ~12 months or more and who are looking to improve strength, size, power, and conditioning.
  3. Trainees who want to improve strength and conditioning in a variety of different contexts. In short, this is not a template focused on bodybuilding, powerlifting, or endurance. Rather, this serves as a combination of these modalities without specialization in any one thing. This is one of our preferred post-beginner templates for those who desire a general improvement in strength and conditioning.

As the name implies, these templates focus primarily on improving strength and conditioning. It can be used as an off-season program for an athlete’s general strength training, during a weight loss phase, or as a conditioning-focused training phase for a serious lifter.

What do you need to use this bundle?

Equipment-wise, we recommend that folks have access to barbells, a rack, weights, and a bench. Additional stuff like an adjustable bench, dumbbells, etc. are nice, but not necessary for this template. The user can select their own exercises based on equipment availability and preferences.

For conditioning; running, rowing, cycling, and other modes are all fine options depending on access and personal preferences.

Scheduling

General S&C I contains a 9-week program with 5 workouts per week.

General S&C II includes two 10-week programs and combines the latest in exercise science with real-world coaching results from 1000’s of individuals. It has a number of unique features:

Exercise Selection

Equipment-wise, we recommend that folks have a pair of Olympic lifting shoes, running shoes, cross-training sneakers, and a lifting belt. Straps, wraps, etc. can be used as needed per the lifter’s discretion, but they aren’t explicitly needed. With respect to strength training, The General Strength and Conditioning Template programs allows the individual to select the types of lifts they want to perform
